Dipak Jung Shahi
Dipak Jung Shahi is one of the recipients of the NIMJN Human Trafficking Reporting Fellowship from Karnali Province. This fellowship was open to the training participants of the NIMJN’s Reporting on Human Trafficking and Human Rights using Multimedia Tools training held in Surkhet for the journalists in Karnali Province, supported by Australian Aid. Dipak was selected based on his story idea related to human trafficking issues in Karnali Province. Dipak has been doing journalism since 2011. His radio journalism career spans over 7 years and he has also worked in local media outlets including Lokmanch Daily, and Hamro Akhabar Daily. He is currently working at Setopati.com as a correspondent. On the academic front, he graduated from Midwest University in Conflict and Peace Studies (CAPS).
He is also interested in exploring human trafficking issues in Karnali Province through the lens of investigative journalism in collaboration with NIMJN. His reporting areas of interest include reporting on social issues, climate change, human rights, and human trafficking.
